The New Bethel Church Christian Education Department presents the Summer Series of 2024. Sessions are planned for June 26th – August 14th. The theme is, “Do the Best You Can With Your Own Life” Part 2: Your Responsibility: Heart, Home, Health.
Scripture: Galatians 6:4-5 MSG
“Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.”

Wednesday, June 26th (In-Person & Online)
“Take Your SHAPE: Spirit, Body, Soul” – Galatians 6:4-5; Psalm 139:14
Presenters: Sister Monica Horton and Christian Education Planning team
“Take Your SHAPE” is a call to the collective body to take responsibility for what God has entrusted to us. This session will kickstart the series with Sister Monica Horton sharing her testimony and personal why for striving for holistic living. Under her instruction, the congregation will be led in low to moderate exercises and stretches. The session will transition with a Selah moment of “intentional mindfulness” followed by a further discussion of the series’ purpose and the Purpose Driven Life term SHAPE (Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality and Experience). Dress comfortably and appropriately.

“Heart Check: Seeking the Heart of God for Holistic Living” – Philippians 2:12-16; Corinthians 13:5-8; 2 Chronicles 27:6; Proverbs 16:1-9; Matthew 6:33
Presenter: Pastor Chris Reynolds, J.D.
This session centers on the heart of matter for holistic living – putting God first and preparing our ways before Him. Beyond providing a template for self-examination of spiritual health, this heart check will give strategies for holistic living and retooled for the greater glory and praise of Jesus Christ! Through examination and example, participants will leave enlightened, empowered, and ready to take responsibility for living with a heart after God for holistic living – heart, home and health.

“Except the LORD build the house, they labor in vain that build it…” emphasizes the importance of building our physical and spiritual homes upon JESUS. This session will assess the principles of preparation, re-evaluation and solidification of building a home that honors God inside and out. Whether it’s getting your spiritual house in order, establishing a physical home or creating a healthy family environment, we will discover our responsibility in working with the LORD, our sure foundation and its benefit.

July 17th – “Health Check: Your Health Matters” – 3 John 1:2
Panel: Dr. Megan Randle and NBC Health Professionals
Dr. Megan Randle, the recently appointed NBC Health & Wellness leader along with our NBC Health Professionals team will provide us with health information and educate our NBC family and community on preventative measures for good health. This session will also give insight to the intersection of good health and faith in God. Both are vital for holistic living.

Saturday, July 20th – Special Home-Ownership Workshop at 9 am
This workshop for those interested in homeownership education or actively in the home-buying/selling market. Regina Drone and other real-estate & home owner professionals will be on-site to answer questions as well as get individuals connected to the resources they need or may want to know more about the real estate market.

July 24th – “Heart Check II: Showing the Heart of God Through Holistic Living” – 2 Corinthians 3:2-6 | Elder Vettra Williams
This second part of the heart check progresses into reflecting God’s purpose through holistic living. This session will magnify the benefits of obedience, integrity and faithfulness to God’s plan in heart, home, health, wealth for outreach and evangelism. It deals with the character and continuum of using our holistic living to the glory of God.

August 7th – “Home Check II: Filled to Last” – Proverbs 24:3-4; Haggai 2:9
Presenters: Deacon Bill Alexander, Sister Wanda Alexander & Elder Nevin Williams
This second home check is a re-evaluation of the contents inside of your home, spiritually and naturally. Collectively, each individual home has the responsibility of contributing to the household of faith. This session will cause us to reassess what’s filling our homes/families and the necessary safeguards and boundaries to ensure a healthy home from the inside out.

Teachers: Elder Michelle Nunn (Female Class) TBA – (Male Class)
Health-esteem builds self-esteem. In these classes, participants will reflect, reassess and retool as fitting for taking responsibility for their own hygiene. Whether young or seasoned, this class aims to give healthy insights on presenting our bodies as holy vessels within and without.
